What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
Perhaps you've lost the Nissan key fob or the device stopped functioning. Before you panic or contact the dealer, go back and see the last place you had it.
Fortunately, it's easy to replace the battery on your nissan key fob. It may seem daunting initially, but you'll get the hang of it quickly.
Smart Keys Keys
The key fob included with the Nissan is an essential part of its incredibly advanced keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronic systems to unlock doors or start the engine and comes with a handy design that is easy to keep in your pocket. A key fob offers other advantages, including locking out protection. This feature ensures that you don't accidentally leave your vehicle with the keys inside.
In contrast to previous models of key fobs, which required you to place the key in the ignition slot to access the onboard systems of your vehicle, smart keys work wirelessly. Nissan detects when you approach your vehicle and activates the Intelligent Key's internal functions. This could include opening and closing the doors, raising or lowering the tailgate, or even starting up the engine.
Certain smart key models come with a concealed metal key to be used for valet parking. The key can be pulled from a release on the back of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox before giving it to a valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket that can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.
It's possible to replace the batteries in your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it's not functioning properly. The owner's manual will offer instructions on how to replace the batteries in most fobs.
Intelligent Key Fob
With the Nissan Intelligent Key Fob, you can unlock your car doors and start the engine at the touch of one button. It also allows you to activate a collection of presets that meet your needs such as adjusting the mirrors and seat to maximize comfort. You can even control the music using your smartphone, so you never have to leave your vehicle.
Intelligent Key Fobs include an antenna built-in that sends a signal to your vehicle when you press a button or approach it. Once the vehicle has received the signal, the system is activated to unlock and lock doors, kicking off the engine, and opening the trunk. If car unlock service want to test out the fob, stand at a distance from your vehicle, and then press the buttons. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.
Batteries are required for the operation of Intelligent Key Fobs. Our Parts Department will help you quickly and efficiently replace the battery if it is out. To do this, remove the hidden key from your key fob and open the compartment for its battery. Replace the old battery with a new one after removing the old one. Assure that the positive side of the new battery faces in the same direction as it did with the old one. Close the compartment for the battery, and then put the key to its hid place inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start is a feature that permits drivers to heat up or cool their vehicle from outside the vehicle, as long as they are within the operating range. The ignition in the car is activated when a driver presses a button on their key fob or smartphone app. The remote start system can also activate the climate control so that the driver is able to decide on their preferred temperature. Certain systems have two-way communication which allows the driver observe what's happening in their vehicle.
The battery's power is low, which is the most frequent reason for your remote start not working. The key fob is powered by a small battery which can be replaced. It lasts for about two years. The battery replacement is a simple process, but you'll need to know the location of the hidden key on your Intelligent Key fob and how to access the battery compartment.
To do so simply flip your fob over and press the hidden key release latch on the back of the keypad. Once the key pad is fully opened take the old battery out and insert a fresh one, making sure that it is in line with the dimensions and configuration of the current battery. Before closing the outer case, ensure that the hidden key is reinserted and the key fob is assembled correctly. Our parts department is able to assist you in replacing the battery on your Intelligent Key fob.
Lockout Protection

Lockout protection helps eliminate nuisance lockouts caused due to impedance relay malfunction. A special module inside the power control unit monitors the activity of the impedance relay, and then disables the output. This feature is available on vehicles with the Smart Key system, or by using the vehicle personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have happened because a machine was started when it was supposed to be completely shut down to repair or maintenance. These incidents are typically the result of energy that hasn't been released correctly. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) that ensures that machines remain off until a designated individual releases them, helps to prevent these types of accidents.
The LOTO system consists of a number of locks, tags and other devices that are used to isolate, secure or shut off a machine from an electrical source. All "affected", "authorized", and "qualified" personnel must be taught about the use of these devices. These devices include, but aren't only restricted to chains, locks, and padlocks. Each device is unique and labelled, including the date and time at which it was used, the name and title of the person who is authorized and the reason for the lockout or tagout (repairs, maintenance or repairs, etc.). It must be stated clearly that these devices are not able to be removed until an entire LOTO procedure has been followed.
